Student/Coater information

Entry and seating

  • Doors open at 10 a.m.

  • Students must be in their seats 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.

  • Students/Coater (if applicable) will enter the theater through the Main Entrance on Madison Street.

  • Students/Coater will then be directed to the Main Floor center section of the theatre where you will be seated alphabetically next to your Coater. If you do not have a Coater, one of the SOM Deans will coat you on stage.

  • Guests (other than your Coater) are not allowed in the student/coater seating area.

  • Students are expected to arrive with their lab coats. Please make sure your lab coats are neatly pressed or dry cleaned beforehand.  On the day of the ceremony, you can either carry your coat or have it on a hanger (which you can store underneath your seat).  We recommend that you don’t wear your coat that morning, in order to avoid wrinkling.

  • Coaters are encouraged to wear his/her physician’s white coat.

  • The dress code is professional/interview attire.  Also, please do not wear suit coats, blazers or jackets underneath your coat. Wear light clothing and comfortable footwear. As a safety precaution, spiked or high-heeled shoes are not recommended. The stairs leading onto the stage are quite steep.

  • All personal belongings should be given to family members prior to entering the theatre.  Corsages, purses, cameras, and flowers cannot be carried onto the stage.

  • Students are required to remain for the entire ceremony.

#WarriorMD2027

To join in the celebration online, we encourage WSU students, staff, and faculty to take photos of themselves, friends, family, and colleagues with signs of congratulations and support and share them on social media – Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram – along with the #WarriorMD 2027 hashtag.
